New Limited Time 150K Offer - Ends 6/30/25! Get elite rewards, travel perks, and unmatched flexibility with the Business Platinum Card® from American Express (Rates and Fees)

Running a business means constant expenses, tools, travel, payroll, software, and more. If you're already spending tens of thousands a month, why not earn serious value in return?

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express (Rates and Fees) is built for businesses that spend big. There’s no preset spending limit so your buying power adjusts based on how you use the card so you can easily cover large expenses as they come up, without hitting a credit limit like you would with a regular card. Most charges need to be paid off each month, but there are certain charges they may let you carry with interest.

You’ll also earn solid rewards, enjoy airport lounge access, and get exceptional travel perks while supporting your business spending.

Right now, through June 30, 2025, Amex is offering one of its biggest welcome bonuses ever!

Welcome Offer

New Business Platinum Card (Rates and Fees) members can now earn 150,000 Membership Rewards® points after spending $20,000 within the first 3 months of account opening. You can also earn a $500 statement credit when you spend $2,500 on qualifying flights (booked directly with airlines or through AmexTravel.com). You can earn either or both rewards by hitting the spend thresholds.

Rewards can range in value from 1 to 2 cents per point, depending on how you redeem them. That means 150,000 points can be worth upwards of $1,500, and potentially up to $3,000. Add the $500 flight statement credit, and the total welcome value starts around $2,000.

How You Earn Rewards

  • 5X points on flights, hotels, and short-term rentals booked through AmexTravel.com
  • 1.5X points on U.S. purchases in select business categories—like U.S. software, electronics, shipping, and construction materials (up to $2M/year) and 1X point after that.
  • 1.5X points on any eligible purchase over $5,000, regardless of category
  • 1X point on all other eligible purchases

This means whether you’re spending in a bonus category or simply making payments over $5K you’ll still earn at the higher 1.5X rate. We estimated a redemption value of 1.5 to 2.0 cents per point, spending $2 million in 1.5X categories or large purchases could earn you up to 3 million points, worth $45,000 to $60,000 or more.

Card Fees

  • Annual Fee: $695 (tax deductible for most businesses) (Rates and Fees)
  • No Foreign Transaction Fees

Redeeming Your Points

  • Amex Travel – When booking travel directly through AmexTravel.com, you’ll get about 1.0 cent per point (CPP) on flights, hotels, and more. This is simple, convenient and is of decent value.
  • Transfer Partners – For more value, you can transfer your points to airline and hotel partners, where they’re often worth 1.5 to 2.2 cents or more per point. This is typically the best route if you're booking international or business class travel.
  • Statement Credits – You can also redeem points for cash back or statement credits, but this usually gives you around 0.6 cents per point—one of the lowest redemption values, and not generally recommended unless you're in a pinch. Gift cards fall somewhere in between, offering 0.7 to 1.0 CPP depending on the brand.

It’s important to note: you’ll need enough points in your account to cover the full cost of the flight upfront. The rebate kicks in after the transaction, crediting the points back to your balance.

Combine for Even More Value: If you have the The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express, you can unlock even more value by pairing it with your Business Platinum Card. The The Blue Business Card earns 2X points on everyday purchases (up to $50K per year), and when you redeem those points through your Business Platinum Card using the 35% rebate, you’re getting around 3.08% back toward flights.

35% Redemption Boost: One of the most rewarding perks of the Business Platinum Card is its 35% Pay with Points rebate. Here’s how it works: when you use Membership Rewards® points to book flights—either in first or business class, or any class with your selected airline—you’ll receive 35% of those points back after the purchase. That effectively bumps up your redemption value to around 1.54 cents per point, which is a solid return in the points world.

Application Tips: What to Know Before You Apply

No Hard Inquiry: You can get approved by Amex without a hard credit inquiry. If you’re approved and accept the offer, Amex will then do a hard credit check on your Experian credit report. If you’re already an American Express customer, they typically won’t do a credit check at all.

Offer Eligibility: You are only eligible for the welcome offer once per card. So if you had it, closed it and now want to try again you won’t get the welcome offer. After submitting before accepting, Amex will let you know with a pop-up if you’re eligible for the welcome bonus. If not, you can cancel the application without any impact to your credit.

Already Have a Business Platinum? If you operate multiple businesses or a side hustle, you can apply for a second Business Platinum Card under a different business. If you don't have an LLC you can also apply as a Sole Proprietor using your own name and Social Security number.

Applying for Two Cards: Amex may approve a second card on the same day you're approved for the first one, without an extra inquiry. Just be sure to wait for the first approval before submitting the second application.

Amex Application Limits: Amex reportedly allows two credit card approvals every 90 days, but that rule doesn’t apply to no preset limit cards like the Business Platinum Card. So you can still apply even if you’ve recently opened other Amex cards and potentially be approved for two cards on the same day.

Status Check: If your application is pending, you can check your status online here or call 1-800-567-1083. Sometimes, all a bank needs is a quick verification to approve you.

Application Declined: If your application is declined, you can call Amex’s reconsideration department the same day at 1-800-567-1083 or 877-399-3083 and ask for a reconsideration. If it's within 30 days they'll reconsider without a new credit check, or up to 90 days with one.

Instant Card Number: Once approved, you might get a temporary digital card number to use immediately, as well as the ability to add the card to your digital wallet.

No Personal Credit Reporting: Most Amex business cards, including the Business Platinum Card, don’t appear on your personal credit report. That means your balance and new account won’t affect your credit utilization or score.

Downgrading The Annual Fee: You can downgrade your Business Platinum Card to a lower-fee business card without losing your account history. One option is the American Express® Business Gold Card ($375 Rates & Fees), which still earns Membership Rewards® points and offers premium perks. You could also move to The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express ($0 Rates & Fees) great for earning points on everyday purchases, or The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card ($0 Rates & Fees) that earns simple cash back on all spending.

Bottom Line

If you’re regularly spending on business expenses, the Business Platinum Card (Rates and Fees) is a no-brainer. Earn rewards, manage cash flow, and unlock premium value.
